Utah-native quartet, The Used, made a stop in Kansas City, Missouri to play at the historic Uptown Theater on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

When The Used took the stage, the theater was packed. Several fans in the audience had on classic emo/goth styles which included “scene” hairstyles, deep black eyeliner and eye shadow, various emo artist t-shirts, black pants with the numerous belts attached to them. I felt like was back in high school again, it was nostalgic.
On stage, there was a massive sheet blocking the view of the band. The sheet was decorated with the same flowers that are featured on The Used‘s latest album Toxic Positivity. Seeing the flowers on the sheet made me excited to hear some of their new songs in person. When the sheet dropped, the crowd went wild and the band went straight into playing their hit song Pretty Handsome Awkward. As the band rocked out the crowd bounced up and down while singing along.

The stage was decorated heavily in the same flowers as mentioned earlier, but their setlist didn’t lean on their latest album much at all. Ony a couple songs, Worst I’ve Ever Been and Giving Up, made it into the setlist that evening, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing at all. They played through a great selection of their hits. Some songs played that night included Take It Away, The Bird and The Worm, I Caught Fire, and The Taste of Ink.
In the middle of their set, lead singer Bert McCracken brought four guests from the audience up on stage to dance with the band as they played through the song Paralyzed. This was a pretty awesome moment, especially for these fans. Rounding out the evening during the last song of the night, Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens joined The Used on stage as they played through A Box Full of Sharp Objects.
If you get a chance to see this tour, I highly recommend going! It was an exciting, energy-filled night of nostalgia. Upcoming tour dates can be found HERE.
