And it was granted!

British rock group The Darkness returned to Kansas City to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their very first album Permission To Land. Performing at The Truman venue in Kansas City, Missouri, The Darkness played through their entire album with a handful of bonus songs as well.
The Darkness are no strangers to Kansas City, having played at The Truman a couple of times over the past few years. As each band member took the stage, they were met with thundurous applause and cheering from the packed venue. As is normal for their shows, lead singer Justin Hawkins and bass guitarist Frankie Poullain came on stage wearing wild outfits. Hawkins wearing a super tight black and white jumpsuit that left very little to the imagination and Poullain wearing a colorful and sparkly sequin suit. Concert goers can always count on those two to wear memorable outfits while performing.
The band wasted no time in diving into their debut album’s songs. Kicking off the show with Black Shuck, followed by Get Your Hands Off My Woman, Growing on Me, and Best of Me. This show was so full of energy it was ridiculous. At one point Justin Hawkins did a headstand in front of the drumset. It was both hilarious and impressive! Justin’s brother Dan Hawkins shredded away on the guitar while Rufus Tiger Taylor kept the beat going all night on the drums.
Whenever The Darkness comes to town, they are a can’t miss show. Their energy, the antics, the camaraderie between the band members, and of course their music makes for an unforgettable concert experience.
