15 Years of Feel The Steel

On March 27, 2025, The Midland Theatre in Kansas City transformed into a time machine, whisking the audience back to the decadent days of ’80s glam metal, courtesy of Steel Panther. Known for their outrageous humor and over-the-top performances, the band delivered a show that was as much a comedy act as it was a rock concert. But this wasn’t just any tour—Steel Panther is celebrating the 15th anniversary of their legendary Feel The Steel album, the record that catapulted them from Hollywood’s Sunset Strip onto the global stage. From the moment they strutted onto the stage, it was clear that the night would be a raucous celebration of music, mischief, and mayhem.

The setlist was a perfect selection of hits off the Feel The Steel album as well as a few other fan favorites showcasing their musical prowess and comedic flair. Fans were treated to favorites like “Eyes of a Panther,” “Community Property,” and, of course, “Death to All but Metal,” each performed with infectious energy. True to form, the band peppered their performance with tongue-in-cheek antics, often pausing between songs to engage in risqué banter that had the crowd roaring with laughter.

Steel Panther’s commitment to the glam metal aesthetic is legendary, and they didn’t disappoint. Decked out in skin-tight leather, spandex, and enough hairspray to deplete the ozone layer, they embodied the spirit of the era they so lovingly parody. This anniversary tour is a special one, as Feel The Steel was the album that gave the world instant classics like “Fat Girl (Thar She Blows)” and “Eatin’ Ain’t Cheatin’.” Their stage presence was electrifying, with bassist Spyder seamlessly filling in and proving that he could hold his own amidst the band’s larger-than-life personalities. The chemistry between the members was palpable, adding an extra layer of authenticity to their performance.

For those unacquainted with Steel Panther, it’s worth noting that the band originated in Los Angeles in 2000 and quickly gained a reputation for their blend of hard rock virtuosity and comedic antics. Feel The Steel was their breakout moment, proving that they weren’t just a novelty act but serious musicians with a flair for satire. Over the years, they’ve been described by Rolling Stone as transcending their origins as a cover band, and Metal Sucks has lauded their genius concept and catchy songwriting. Their ability to seamlessly blend humor with genuine musical talent has earned them a dedicated global following. As the final chords rang out, it was evident that Steel Panther had once again delivered a performance that was both a nostalgic nod to the past and a wild party in its own right. Here’s to 15 years of Feel The Steel—and hopefully, many more years of filthy, hilarious, face-melting rock.
