English pop group Bastille performed at the historic Uptown Theater in Kansas City, Missouri on May 29, 2022. Bastille is currently on their Give Me The Future Tour.

Bastille has been making waves on both alternative and pop radio stations over the past few years. Currently they are touring to promote their latest album Give Me The Future. The stage production for the show was interesting. The theme was very heavy in sci-fi elements. At the back of the stage was a giant LED screen that displayed a logo for “Future Inc.” and between songs would display loading messages and fragmented videos like some sort of computer monitor. Also on stage was some sort of lounge chair thing that lead singer Dan Smith would occasionally lay down on between songs while the screen behind the band displayed various imagery and messages.

Bastille performed a number of hits throughout the show. They opened the show with Stay Awake? where Dan Smith appeared atop a platform at the very back of the stage with the screen at his back. Some of the futuristic visuals that played behind the band gave off a vibe of futuristic technology meshing with reality. Almost a sort of Matrix-esque feeling of being plugged into technology. Other songs that appeared in their performance included “Quarter Past Midnight,” “Things We Lost In The Fire,” “Pompeii,” “Happier,” and “Give Me The Future.” The show ended with a two-song encore of “Hope for the Future” and “Shut Off The Lights.”
Overall Bastille put on an enjoyable show. The futuristic set up really matched some of the themes from their latest album and provided the audience quite an experience.
