Russkaja, a ska-punk band from Vienna, Austria, describes their unique sound as “Russian Turbo Polka Metal” and they are not wrong! This band is highly energetic and extremely entertaining. The instrumentals have a great vibrant and robust sound, and the vocals, with the heavy Russian accent, just add that much more to the group.

A couple songs into their set, the energy waned and vocalist Georgij Makazaria and bass guitarist Dimitrij Miller took center stage together. Behind them the stage lights switched to blue and yellow. Georgij took a moment to give a little speech about he was Russian and Dimitrij was Ukrainian but even with the war going on, they didn’t let that get between them. See quote below.

“We are the example that between Ukrainian people and Russian people, there is no war. There is just one crazy motherfucker who made this war.” -Georgij Makazaria
